Slippery elm powder is mild and nutritious. It is traditionally used to soothe diarrhoea as it normalises the stools, and coats and heals the lining of the intestinal tract while absorbing toxins which can cause intestinal imbalances.
It is often used as a remedy for duodenal ulcers, gastritis, colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, haemorrhoids and heartburn. Slippery elm provides a wholesome nourishing food for invalids and children, and can be made into a milky hot chocolate-like drink to make it more palatable.
Can be used by pregnant women as a mild laxative.
